
Breakwater Foundation Scholars
The Breakwater Foundation Scholars program provides rent subsidies and education bursaries to young women who have experienced homelessness and are enrolled in post-secondary education or training. This financial support is provided for up to five years to give each recipient the opportunity to build a strong foundation of skills and knowledge.
Get qualification criteria for:

Rent Subsidies
To qualify for rent subsidies, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
Enrolled in post-secondary education (e.g., college or university) or training (e.g., apprenticeship program)
Identify as a woman
Experienced homelessness within the past five years
16 – 26 years of age
Paying market rent (i.e., not living in subsidized housing)
Not receiving social assistance payments (e.g., Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program) because rent subsidies would be deducted from these payments
Education and Training Bursaries
To qualify for education or training bursaries, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
Enrolled in post-secondary education (e.g., college or university) or training (e.g., apprenticeship program)
Identify as a woman
Experienced homelessness within the past five years
16 – 26 years of age
